Born in 1996 in Moscow, Polina Novikova lived and studied in the UK and Cyprus. She works with traditional techniques such as oil, watercolor, and pencil. In her practice, she explores traditional romantic themes of self-exploration, contemplation in solitude, one’s connection to nature and the universe. Her works are often inspired by tales and myths where the main character is opposing the surrounding world, where the landscapes reflect directly the character’s inner state of mind, and where one tries to find the purpose.
